The Rating System

Originally, my rating system was numbers. So if a show was really, really good it would get a score of 8.4 or something along those lines. However, after experimenting on the Current Anime & Manga page here on my site, I have decided that I will now use stars to rate anime and manga. Now allow me to explain what each star rating means:

★ = A MASTERPIECE!*
"Masterpiece" ratings are for what I believe are the very best anime shows ever. Granted, I have never seen a show that screams, "Best anime show ever!" and I honestly don't think I ever will.
*But, as usual, "Masterpiece" ratings are given basically never because nothing is perfect—including anime.

★★★★½ = Fantastic
Here's a rating that's given more often than "Masterpiece" but not quite as common as the "Great" or "Good" rating. This rating is used for anime shows that I really, really love and wouldn't mind re-watching in the times to come.

★★★★ = Great
The "Great," or "Awesome," rating is more for the shows that I really like but ones that I know have some minor problems (such as a romance that takes forever to take off, love triangles, and things of that nature). Still, this is a pretty good rating for an anime.

★★★½ = Good
A "Good" rating means that an anime is . . . well, good. It keeps you entertained, even though there are some things you dislike about it, and you enjoy watching it, though you don't plan on re-watching it any time soon. Not much more to say about it.

★★★ = Average
"Average," or "Okay," anime are just a few steps below the "Good" rating. They're just the types of shows that make you shrug and think, Meh. "Average" anime aren't bad or anything; they're just . . . average. Means you've seen others like it so it's pretty generic and not very interesting. In fact, they really don't make you feel anything other than meh.

★★½ = Bad
Oh boy. Here's where an anime starts to go bad. The "Bad" rating is given to shows that just make you do this:
then this:
and even sometimes this:
all the while saying:
Every anime has a bad thing in it, sure. It may even occasionally make you do GIF #1. But a bad anime has A LOT of bad things in it and is borderline terrible. Normally in rated "Bad" anime I find something I like (just barely). If not, then that's what the next rating is for.

★★ = Terrible
Me, thinking: God . . . This anime sucks, like . . . Jesus! I . . . I can't get it out of my head! I guess there's no choice . . . Oh—good-bye cruel world! Then BLAM!
In "Terrible" rated anime, I can't find a single damn thing to like about it. That means every time I start a new episode, I feel like I just got out of hell, turned around, and jumped right back into it again. I find absolutely no enjoyment out of it whatsoever and there is nothing—absolutely nothing—in the anime that I enjoy. So, you might be saying right now: "But Gabby! This sounds like it should be a one-star rating! What sort of anime could possibly be worse than this?" I would then reply: "Simple. A RILO BI NI! one."

★ = RILO BI NI!*
Sigh. The one-starred anime. Every second makes you go:
Allow the GIFs to take over my job of explaining this rating.
. . .
I think the GIFs did their job well of getting the point across.
*aka RIP ITS LIMBS OFF, BURN IT, NUKE IT! Also, I know it's a stupid name; I just came up with it on the spot, lol.

So hopefully everyone now has a better understanding of my rating system. If you want me to do something different, please comment and I'll considerate it. Also, I know I skipped the star-and-a-half rating, but I thought that there isn't really anything between "Terrible" and the "RILO BI NI!" rating.

And with that, see you next time, otakus!
