It's time for this season's shoujo anime, 'cause here comes
Wolf Girl & Black Prince! My biggest guilty pleasure of anime by far is shoujo anime. Yeah, the love interest could be a complete dick, but I still love him anyway. I don't think the same can be applied to our love interest Kyoya here, since he acts like a gentleman (sometimes) and I have a feeling he might have a sad(-dish) backstory—possibly involving a dog.
Anyway, the story begins when Erika brags to her friends that she has a boyfriend. Thing is, Erika is a horrible liar. She lies about almost everything in order to have friends. While things may work in her favor for a while, eventually these lies backfire on her. One such example would be the boyfriend lie. She overhears her friends say they don't believe in Erika's boyfriend story, so Erika goes out to "prove it" to them by snapping a picture of a random hot guy she saw on the streets.

"What? Did I take a picture of you? Wha—what are you talking about? ................" |
And this is where it backfires: She shows her friends the photo, but one of them believes she's seen the guy before. Well, whaddya know, this guy goes to the same school as Erika. Desperate to not be labeled as the girl who cried wolf, Erika tells Kyoya about her situation. To her surprise, he's rather kindhearted about it and offers to pretend to be her boyfriend. Happily, she accepts and asks herself how a perfect guy can exist. Well, sweetie, there's no such thing, as Kyoya quickly reveals his sadistic side to her. However, it's too late to back out, because Erika has to be his "dog" or else he'll tell everyone the truth.
It's a pretty shoujo-y situation, but hey, that's why we love the genre, right? Kyoya may sometimes be an asshole, but he can be a nice guy . . . maybe . . . I don't know? But who cares since Kyoya is looking fine as hell every time I see him:

Sigh. I love shoujo anime. Erika is likable, but I can't help but not feel completely bad for her as she got what she deserved. This is why, children, you don't lie about stuff—they can come back and bite you in the ass. However, I'll see how this series unfolds before making an ultimate decision on how I feel about Erika. In the meantime, all the characters could use some development. Oh, speaking of, I forgot to mention her "friends." Now Erika's "friends" aren't really her friends because they talk about her behind her back and they have next to nothing in common with each other. They're not all that likable, but I'm willing to see how they develop.
With all this being said, I am interested in reading the manga after the anime series finishes up. And with that, take care, otakus!
